There is also third party Linux application called SuperKaramba that already facilitates KDE desktop widgets and work is going on OS X Dashboard compatibility to allow KDE users to take advantage of the massive number of Dashboard widgets already available. Also support for Opera browser widgets is expected in future releases of KDE 4. Notice that not all Superkaramba widgets work with KDE 4.0 that did with KDE 3.5. I get the following error upon launching some of them:
